1. A One Hour Instant Business Consultation

For the first time, I’m offering individual, private, one-hour business consulting calls to help you to feel confident about addressing whatever challenges, questions, blocks or opportunities you’re experiencing in your business right now.

This is an opportunity to leverage my considerable knowledge and experience as a former CEO, and to focus on the area of your business that needs the most attention right now. This private coaching call can cover any topic you wish, from a more general business review to addressing a specific challenge or goal. Investing in a one-hour phone consultation with me could save you thousands in wasted hours and effort.

We’ll meet by Zoom to go over your specific concerns and challenges. Our call will be recorded so that you can refer back to our discussion later on. I’ll provide specific insights, suggestions, recommendations and action steps to enable you to take the next step in your business.

2. Business Planning

We’ll start with an initial discovery meeting for which they’ll be some pre-work to collate the data needed to create a robust business plan.

You’ll receive an actionable business plan that is tailored to the specific needs, budget and resources of your business. The plan will include:

  • Primary and secondary research
  • Data and internal research review
  • Interviews with key executives
  • Industry analysis
  • Competitor analysis
  • Insights from your customers and any other relevant stakeholders

It typically takes between 3 and 10 days to create a business plan, depending on (i) the quality of the data you have available e.g. market research, performance data (ii) whether you have an existing business plan (iii) the intended audience and (iv) whether you or your accountant are able to produce 3 year Profit & Loss and Cash Flow Forecasts.

3. Business Consultancy

A typical business consulting process takes between one week and two months depending on the complexity of your business and your specific requirements. The process might include:

  • A deep-dive discovery session with you to review your current business plan, business and financial performance
  • Data and internal research review
  • Primary and secondary research
  • Interviews with key personnel and stakeholders
  • Industry analysis
  • Competitor analysis
  • Interviews with your customers
  • An evaluation of your sales and marketing activities

On conclusion of the consultancy project, you’ll receive a written report, with actionable recommendations to move your business forward, followed by an in person or online meeting to review the plan. My team will deliver an actionable, prioritised plan that is tailored to your specific needs, budget and resources. This plan could include:

  • Specific action plans including a detailed list of short-term activities that will immediately improve your business results
  • Recommendations about risks to which your business is exposed
  • A high-level survey of competitor marketing and industry best practices
  • Insights from your customers and other relevant stakeholders
  • Recommendations on branding marketing tone, points of differentiation, and positioning
  • Recommendations on the key business metrics you should be tracking
  • Recommendations on resourcing, how to manage the changes outlined in the report and budge.

4. ‘Build Your Boardroom’

This is a bespoke programme for businesses that want to scale up.

A scale-up business typically has average annualised growth in employees or turnover that is greater than 20% per annum over a three year period, with a minimum of 10 employees at the beginning of the observation period. Business literature frequently uses the term ‘gazelles’ to describe a similar phenomenon.

Scale-up can occur in relatively young companies that transition quickly from start-up to scale-up status. It can also occur in more established SMEs that, after sometimes prolonged periods of slow growth, transition to a high growth phase. It is difficult to draw a precise line between the start-up/SME and the scale-up stage. In general, scale up occurs when a company takes a proven concept and delivers it to a wider audience, often through market penetration and geographic expansion.

There are many why reasons business owners struggle to scale up which include:

  • A lack of experience, knowledge, and/ or vision about how to scale the business.
  • Lack of business planning, including market research, competitor analysis, financial plans, goals and measurements of success.
  • Gaps in skills and technical knowledge e.g. digital marketing, HR and recruitment and financial planning.
  • Absence of systems e.g. sales and a robust infrastructure.
  • Lack of brand identity.

The purpose of the ‘Build Your Boardroom’ programme is to bring together a team of professionals to form a specialist Boardroom of advisors to advise on how to scale the business. This is a highly bespoke service, tailored to meet the needs of the individual business. This programme is not suitable for all businesses which is why it’s by application only.
